Application Requirements:
1. Artist statement (200-300 words)
2. Images of your art work (3–10 images)
3. A brief residency proposal (casual & flexible, just share your vision!)
4. Preferred dates (include flexibility)
5. Application fee

Seasonal Residency Periods:
Spring: March – May
Summer: June – August
Fall: September – November

Residency Length:
3 weeks per residency for 2025, 3 weeks to 3 months for 2026

Expectations: We do not place productivity or public presentation requirements on residents. Artists are free to experiment, research, create new work and rest as they wish.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, with notifications sent within 2-3 weeks.


1. Residency Fee

  • Pre-launch promo 2-week session fee: $1,200 USD
  • 3-week session fee (2025) : $2,700 USD
  • Includes exclusive use of the traditional Japanese house, private studio space, and basic utilities (electricity, water, Wi-Fi).

2. Payment Terms

  • Deposit: 30% of the session fee is required within 7 days of acceptance. (Deposit is non-refundable.)
  • Balance: Remaining payment is due 30 days before the residency start date.
  • Payments Accepted:
    • Credit card (via secure Stripe link)

3. Cancellation Policy

  • Deposit is non-refundable.
  • Cancellations made less than 30 days before the session start date are non-refundable unless the session is rebooked.
  • We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance to protect your plans.

4. Additional Guests

  • The residency fee covers one artist.
  • Family members are welcome for an additional fee:
    • $500 per additional adult (per session)
    • $300 per child under 12 (per session)
    • Maximum of a family of 4

  • Private stay in a traditional Japanese home

  • Car rental for a fee
